The Project Athena Foundation is a non-profit foundation helping women survivors of medical or other traumatic setbacks achieve their  dreams. Named after the Greek Goddess of Wisdom and War, Athenas are women who are ready to not only survive, but thrive after enduring medical issues and other trauma.  Project Athena grants provide travel expenses, coaching, equipment, and most importantly, the encouragement and inspiration needed to help women transition from Survivor to Athlete.

The grant currently covers one of six yearly adventures that provide mental and physical challenges in a non-competitive environment.  These adventures help survivors have something to look forward to and a goal to accomplish.

A medical or traumatic set back can be defined as, but is not limited to the follow:
  • Life-altering accidents (includes motor vehicle accidents)
  • PTSD
  • Amputees
  • Cancer
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Congential defects
  • Neurological disorders
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Prolonged illnesses
The 6 adventures sponsored by Project Athena in 2018 include:
  • San Diego Harbor to Harbor 50 Mile Urban Adventure Trek
  • Santa Barbara 24 Hour Multisport Adventure
  • Grand Canyon Rim2Rim2Rim Trek (2-day)
  • Grand Canyon Rim2Rim Trek (1-day)
  • San Diego Cove to Harbor Coastal Marathon Trek
  • Florida Keys to Recovery Adventure
Apply for a grant today to join us as an Athena, if you are a survivor of a medical setback, OR register for an event as a Fundraising God or Goddess to show your support for a great cause!
