Midwest Arts grants up to $4,000

Arts Midwest promotes creativity, nurtures cultural leadership, and engages people in meaningful arts experiences, bringing vitality to Midwest communities and enriching people’s lives.  The organization promotes performing, visual, and literary arts and leadership development initiatives that provide opportunities for communities large and small to engage with arts and culture.

​As part of its mission, Midwest Arts 
invites organizations to apply for a Touring Fund grant, which provides funding to entities that contract artists/ensembles to perform in their own or a community venue. The Touring Fund supports engagements that occur between July 1, 2019, and June 30, 2020 in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.  Emphasis is placed on Counties that are NOT listed as a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) according to U.S. Census data.

Applicant requests must support engagements that include the following:
  1. A professional performing artist or ensemble in dance, music, theater, musical theater or other performing arts'
  2. The engagement must include at least one performance that is open and promoted to the general public, excluding fundraising events.
  3. The engagement must include at least one community activity to be conducted by the artist, staff, and/or a qualified expert that enhances the audience’s understanding of and appreciation for the artists’ work and foster exchanges between artists and communities.
  4. Reach an audience with limited access to the arts. (more info here)

​Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicant must be a nonprofit 501c(3) organization, a unit of state or local government, or a federally recognized tribal community or tribe.
  • Applicant must be located in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.
  • Applicant must hold the contract with the professional performing artist/ensemble.
  • Applicant must compensate all professional performers and related or supporting professional personnel at no less than the prevailing minimum compensation.
  • Applicant must have a DUNS (Dun and Bradstreet) number
  • All applicants and potential sub-recipients must have and maintain an “active” registration in SAM.gov (System for Award Management) until the application process is complete, and if selected, throughout the life of the award.
